Cybersecurity professional in training. Communicator, problem-solver, and lifelong learner. Layer 8 — the human layer.
My Story
I'm Emily Doud — a cybersecurity professional in training, communicator, problem-solver, and lifelong learner with a background that spans journalism, operations management, customer service, and technology.
Before transitioning into cybersecurity and IT, I spent years working in fast-paced environments where communication, adaptability, and critical thinking mattered every day. From reporting local stories under tight deadlines to managing teams and operations, I learned how to stay calm under pressure, solve problems quickly, and connect with people from all walks of life.
Today, I'm building a career focused on technology, cybersecurity, and digital problem-solving. I have completed the Cybersecurity Professional Program through the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where I've gained hands-on experience with networking fundamentals, Linux systems, SIEM tools, security operations, and incident response concepts. I am CompTIA Security+ certified as of April 2026. Previous education includes a Bachelor's Degree from UW–Eau Claire, with a major in Political Science and a minor in Print Journalism.
What drives me most is the intersection between technology and people. I enjoy translating complex ideas into clear communication, helping others solve problems, and continuing to grow through hands-on learning and real-world experience.
This site is a place to showcase my projects, interests, professional journey, and the work I'm building toward in cybersecurity and technology.
